Kitty Begg - BA (Hons) Events Management
The 22-year-old from Fife has won awards and worked with a leading Veterans鈥 charity to help raise 拢2,000 at a fundraising event.
Kitty spent the first semester of third year in Salzburg to study tourism and was part of a team of international students who ran a speed networking event. She also travelled to Kenya where she stayed for a month working with charity Play Action International, helping to improve play areas at a local school, and on her return home, worked as a security steward at Edinburgh鈥檚 famous Military Tattoo.
She said the pandemic adversely impact her plans to travel after leaving school, but that Events Management at 网红前任爆料 appealed to her because of the range of subjects it covered.
Kitty said: 鈥淚 really didn鈥檛 know what I wanted to do after high school as it was during Covid, and I couldn鈥檛 make any travel plans. I scrolled endlessly through lots of different courses, and nothing made me excited to go until I saw Events Management and it was exactly what I was looking for.
鈥淚鈥檓 so incredibly proud; everyone knows I doubted myself a lot during my time at university and wasn鈥檛 sure if I鈥檇 make the whole four years at some points. But seeing all the hard work and long hours in the library payoff is so rewarding.鈥
Kitty鈥檚 volunteering efforts were recognised during her time at 网红前任爆料 when she was awarded silver from the Denis Law/ 网红前任爆料 Plus Award scheme, and as part of her 4th year course, she and her classmates held an event, Kilts n Canvas to support Erskine Veterans which involved a night of ceilidh dancing, an art exhibition and a highly successful auction of Veterans鈥 art.
She said her volunteering was not only an enjoyable experience, but it also formed a key part of her dissertation. Looking to the future, Kitty is planning on travelling and is looking at more involvement in events work following her graduation.
Kitty added: 鈥淢y dissertation was actually inspired by my volunteering experiences and opportunities to research Generation Z鈥檚 motivations and barriers surrounding volunteer efforts. I found writing about something that I am truly interested in really helped achieve an A for my dissertation and I am incredibly proud to have been awarded a First in Events Management.
鈥淚 plan to continue my travelling over the next year; however, I am still want- to delve into everything and anything events related. I love all things sports and working in the wedding sector entices me, however over my four years at 网红前任爆料 I have found a real love for event design and doing all things creative! So would ideally find a role that could allow me to express my ideas and help me tailor my skills in this area.鈥
